Welcome to the SMOTJ-IFA Knights Templar Web Site
|
Welcome to our USA Scottish Knights Templar Priory of St. Jude website.
On this website you will find information on Templar membership, news, forums, monthly articles, application procedures and a bit about our history. We are a world wide Order of Templars, recognized as the premiere Order of Knights Templar with roots grounded to the principles of St. Bernard of Clairavaux, the Vatican in 1118, then to Scotland in 1128. We are also a Non-Masonic Templar order, and an ecumenical Christian order.
The Confederation of Scottish Knights Templar headquarters is in Glasgow, Scotland. Other SKT Priories are in New Zealand, Pakistan, NATO, Australia, Germany, Yugoslavia, Belgium, Canada, Malta, Lebanon, Brazil, the Marshall Islands, Wales, England, Macedonia, the Phillipppines, and are affiliated with other Templar Orders from Germany, Austria, France, Australia and Russia.
We hold forever the Title; Chef Mondial, or head of the world Knights Templar Autonomous Grand Priories. This Charter was left in Perpetuity to the Scottish Grand Priory by the late world Templars Chef Mondial, Chevalier Baron Anton Lepreucht Rapp, KGCTJ in his will on his demise in Switzerland in 1980.
We are focused on two principal goals: 1) to perform charitable works for the poor, the sick, the old and the helpless and 2) to defend the persecuted church.
We hold that due to Scotland's preeminent position within Templar history, we do not recognize, nor admit the existence of any Templar Order with a superior claim to that of our own.
We are about a holy commitment to serve the Lord Jesus Christ with all of our heart and soul. Our help to fund Christian families worldwide and help the poor and the sick is payment itself, not the desire to self grandize in the media. Our aid and help is shared in a selfless, giving way as the Poor Knights of Christ.
We hold, therefore, that true Templar Orders are those that do not discriminate on the basis of educational, financial, or social status, and are those that are concerned with the defense of the church, and the caring for our fellow humanity. If you feel you can be a part of an ongoing philosophy to aid our fellow man while practicing our daily Templar deeds, this order is looking for you. The Scottish Knights Templar held a Templar world congress Edinburgh, Scotland, and toured in the Lothians, complete with a visit to Rosslyn Chapel.
Templars from as far afield as Germany and the United States attended a service at St Mary's Church in Haddington.
The Knights Templar are historically linked with Rosslyn Chapel, in Roslin, Midlothian, and both were featured in Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code.
The church service, including communion for Catholics and non-Catholics, were completed by visits to historic and important religious sites across the country.
The World Congress of Templars had representatives from Germany, Bulgaria, Wales, England, USA, Bavaria, Switzerland and other countries in attendance. A visit to Temple was made by tour, originally an old Templar church, which many visited to pay respects.
During the formal dinner, The Grand Prior Generals of Germany OMCTH and SKT both spoke, attributing respects for goals and common works.
The Scottish Knights Templar claim to be the world's oldest Templar Order. Original documents from the 12th century in possession of the SKT supporting these claims were discussed at a dinner speech by the Secretary General.
Future world meetings are planned for 2007 and 2008.

From The Dublin Penny Journal, Volume 2, Number 87, March 1, 1834
Having in the preceding article* given some idea of the interesting district of Fingall, the following slight sketch of the rise, progress, and final destruction of the Knights Templars, to whom the Castle of Clontarf formerly belonged, may not be unacceptable.[1]

Paul Maier is angry.
"Put it this way," he said, "there is not one ranking scholar in the entire world who supports what Dan Brown has done with history."
Maier, a Harvard graduate, Fulbright scholar, author of 15 books and professor of ancient history at Western Michigan University, is incensed at the faulty history in Dan Brown's bestselling novel, "The Da Vinci Code."

LONDON (Reuters) - The copyright case against the publishers of "The Da Vinci Code" reached its final chapter on Monday, with lawyers for the claimants renewing accusations that millionaire author Dan Brown stole their ideas.
The Da Vinci Code, one of the most successful novels of all time with sales of over 40 million copies, shares some of the same ideas as "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail," a 1982 work of historical conjecture by Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh.

Haleigh Poutre: Bobby Schindler Speaks Out
Topics: Commentary
Response to Cathy Young of the Boston Globe
Dear Ms. Young,
I writing in response to your column, “Haleigh Poutre is no Terri Schiavo”.
After reading all of the dishonesty that you purport as truths in regard to my sister Terri, I have to say that this is not only the most irresponsible article that I have yet to read from the media regarding Terri’s situation, but possibly the most egregious.

(Note: We refer the source of this article to http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/ahamilton/sinclair.htm)
This article appears in the New Orkney Antiquarian Journal, vol. 2, 2002. It appears here with a few amendments.
Endnotes are highlighted in the text thus (1) and clicking on the endnote number will take you to the endnote. Clicking [RETURN] at any endnote will bring you back to the section of text you were reading. You can e-mail Brian Smith from here.
Henry Sinclair, an earl of Orkney of the late fourteenth century, didn't go to America. (1) It wasn't until 500 years after Henry's death that anybody suggested that he did. The sixteenth century text that eventually gave rise to all the claims about Henry and America certainly doesn't say so. What it says, in so many words, is that someone called Zichmni, with friends, made a trip to Greenland. None of Henry Sinclair's contemporaries or near-contemporaries ever claimed that he went to America; and none of the antiquaries who wrote about him in the seventeenth century said so either, although they made other absurd claims about him. The story is a modern myth, based on careless reading, wishful thinking and sometimes distortion, and during the past five years or so it has taken new outrageous forms.

Specialist 4 Ronald Singleton of Joshua was activated and deployed to Iraq with the Texas Army National Guard. He left behind his wife, Cassandra and five children. His only income for several months has been his meager Army salary that undoubtedly fell well short of what was needed to support his large family. Additional hardship hit the family when Ronald was diagnosed with Leukemia.
